Howland, Ohio (October 1, 2024) — Just in time for Breast Cancer Awareness month, Southwoods Health is pleased to announce the addition of mammography and ultrasound services to its Howland location, 9371 East Market Street, Suite 2.
Digital mammography is the standard of care at Southwoods. Studies show it detects more breast cancers and is especially beneficial for women with dense breasts. Advanced 3D mammography, or tomosynthesis, offers more comfortable testing, faster scan times and less radiation exposure.
Ultrasound is commonly used in conjunction with other imaging studies to confirm diagnosis or assist in the identification of breast abnormalities. When combined with advanced elastography applications, ultrasound is particularly effective in helping classify breast lesions and aid in the differentiation between benign and malignant tumors.
“We know early detection saves lives and 3D mammography significantly increases the detection of breast cancer,” said Ed Muransky, Southwoods Health CEO. “We are happy to offer this technology to the residents of Trumbull County.”
The Howland facility also houses the first 3T MRI in Trumbull County, providing patients with the most advanced imaging technology available in medicine today. This system’s capabilities ensure the highest quality images with the most enhanced anatomical detail. Digital X-ray services are also available at this location.
A doctor’s order and an appointment are required for MRI, mammography and ultrasound services. Call 330-965-5110 to schedule. For X-ray services, a doctor’s order is required, but you can walk-in without an appointment.
Howland imaging hours are Monday – Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
